The Choke

There is an old adage that says, “curiosity killed the cat”. This proverbial expression is often used by individuals who want to stop someone from asking so many questions. I have heard this saying in several situations and implied in so many different ways over the course of my life. Little did I know that one day this simple saying would become so ironic in my life. One evening LonDell and I were having one of our usual life changing conversations and we were discussing goals that we would one day like to accomplish. I always knew LonDell to be adventurous but yet reserved not only in his thinking but in his decision making as well. He expressed to me his love of cigars. I knew he possessed extensive knowledge in this area because he shared with me not only his special moments of experiencing cigars but all the great times he has shared with his family and friends of smoking cigars. We even shared a great time at a local cigar lounge in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was at that moment I realized I possessed zero ability and talent for smoking a fine cigar.

While LonDell was attempting to teach me the proper etiquette of cigar smoking, I allowed my excitement paired with the smooth flavors of the cigar, to not only engulf my ability to breath while smoking; but it also engulfed my pride and I knew then that smoking was not my strongest suit. A while later, LonDell shared with me his desire to begin his own cigar line. I was excited and thought of course he needed a feminine touch. I insisted that he name a cigar after me.
